Conservation Outreach
Engaging and informing the San Joaquin Valley community

A winter walk at KOP
Sequoia Riverlands Trust makes it a top priority to maintain an active role in the communities we serve. With our outreach efforts, we demonstrate the value of protecting the land-rich resources in our region of the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley. SRT engages and enlists the community’s support so that we can all take pride in the beauty and productivity of the land that surrounds us. We also welcome the community’s input in order to ensure that we are doing our work efficiently and benefitting as many people as possible.
Some of our conservation community outreach efforts include:
Outreach booths: SRT has hosted several informational outreach booths, both locally and at a state level, to help spread the word about our Habitat Conservation Program and the valuable work we do. We’ve participated at The Southern California Edison Earth Day Tech Fair, The Reedley College Green Summit, Redwood and Goshen High Schools, the Master Gardeners Club of Kings and Tulare Counties, downtown Visalia Street Fairs and many others.
Informational presentations: SRT has given numerous presentations at service clubs around the region in order to increase awareness of regional land and habitat conservation. If you would like to set up a presentation, please contact us at 559.738.0211.
Monthly Walks: SRT hosts monthly walks on our nature preserves and conservation easements to show people first-hand how we conserve and manage land in the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills.
Kaweah Oaks Preserve: At Kaweah Oaks Preserve, local youth engage in service learning projects and environmental education that teach them first-hand about our Habitat Conservation Program.

Blue Oak Ranch: The Blue Oak Ranch in Springville, CA will be open for public access in the near future. We are currently reaching out to stakeholders and residents in the area to solicit their feedback about how they would like to use the ranch. We will incorporate those views into the final ranch management plan. Give us a call or send us an email if you’d like to share your thoughts: 559.738.0211.
Dry Creek Preserve: SRT hosts many volunteer work days at Dry Creek Preserve throughout the year. With great support from the community, it represents the first example of an ecologically-based aggregate mine reclamation in Tulare County. Formerly, a gravel mine, the preserve once again provides critical habitat for a host of birds and native species, and also delights visitors with a stunning wildflower show in the springtime. Become a volunteer and find out how you can continue restoring this special piece of land.
