The Sequoia Riverlands Trust (SRT) is a community-based
conservation organization, comprised of residents and partners
who care about the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley.
We strive to live in a community where natural richness compliments
agricultural richness; where economic prosperity co-exists with
scenic, open vistas, improving the quality of life for all. Building
on the solid foundation created by our community, our board, staff
and advisors include respected members of the agricultural, business,
planning, education and scientific communities.
The Sequoia Riverlands Trust, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,
was established in November 2000 as the Sierra Los Tulares Land
Trust. The formation of SRT resulted from a decision to strengthen
local conservation efforts by merging three Tulare County organizations:
the Four Creeks (Visalia), Kaweah (Three Rivers), and Tule Oaks
(Springville/Porterville) land trusts. These groups are now chapters
of SRT.
We cooperate with individual, business, non-profit and agency
partners to accomplish our mission. In April 2001, we formed a
partnership with The Nature Conservancy to jointly identify and
achieve key conservation goals in Tulare County. The Nature Conservancy
acts as a consultant to SRT by providing scientific expertise,
assisting with on-the-ground conservation projects and working
closely with us on fundraising efforts.
